Seven Red Flags That Your Trainer Is Not Teaching Correct NLP
Truth Admin·September 16, 2026
The market is flooded with people calling themselves NLP trainers. Many are excellent. Many more are not. Here are seven red flags — each one drawn directly from our Correct NLP Checklist.
- No license. A trainer without a license to certify Practitioners or Master Practitioners is a serious warning sign.
- "NLP therapy." NLP is not therapy, and framing it as such is both misleading and, in many places, a legal problem.
- "NLP is scientific." NLP is a modelling discipline, not a science. Trainers who dress it up in a lab coat are overselling.
- "Just believe in it." If the technique only works once you believe, it is faith, not method.
- "Trust the process." A phrase that too often means "stop asking me questions."
- It feels like group therapy. A training should build skill, not stage catharsis.
- They won't bet on it. After clarifying a claim, a confident practitioner will happily wager on it. Refusal is telling.
